Financial Support and Resources for Veterans

There are many resources to help active-duty service members and their families with money, but in the past, veterans haven’t had the same resources to help them with personal finance. But great news, that is changing.

In this episode, Accredited Financial Counselor Heath Carelock shares the financial resources available to veterans through a newly launched VetCents. This private and public partnership stood up to help veterans get the education and personalized financial help they need.

Heath is the Program Director for the Financial Empowerment Center at Prince George’s Community College, a United Way of the National Capital Area initiative, and is an attending financial counselor to Veterans Benefits Banking Program. He is a 2022 Maryland Financial Capability Award winner for excellence in financial education. He holds a graduate certificate in Financial Therapy from Kansas State University and is a Certified Financial Behavior Specialist®, Project Management Professional®, and former NeighborWorks America® Financial Capability Coach. Heath is the founder of CARE Financial Impact, serving as an attending financial counselor to MyPath’s ‘Black Economic Equity Movement’ project with SAGE Financial Solutions.
