6 Reasons Why You Never Have Money

No Action

Sitting around wishing you had more money doesn’t pay anything. Don’t hang around waiting for something to fall into your lap, get out and find a way to either make more money or save more. Better yet, find a way to do both.

Wanting What Others Have

Trying to keep up with what others are doing causes you to spend more than you would normally. Just because someone else bought all new Pottery Barn furniture or has the latest iPhone doesn’t mean you can afford the same things. Stay focused on living under your means because “The Joneses” aren’t going to help pay your bills.

Not Using Your Degree

If you aren’t using your degree for your job, you’re wasting money. No one every says, “I would love to get a job doing something I hate.” Everyone wants a job doing what they love but the reality is sometimes doing what you love doesn’t put money in the bank. Yes, it may be more fun teaching yoga than working 12-hour shifts on your feet as a nurse but what’s going to pay down your student loans quicker?

Impulsive Spending

Yep, buying that shirt as soon as you saw it at Target or those cute hand towels at Anthropology is causing you never to have money. I think we can agree, we’d all love to be Oprah and just shop whenever we want without looking at price tags but for most of us, that’s not happening in the foreseeable future. So for now, budget and shop around for the best prices.

Spending Your Money on Stupid Stuff

Mindless spending is the number one reason you never have money. It could be anything from cigarettes to paying a surge on Uber to drive you to McDonald’s when it’s snowing. Are you paying for magazine subscriptions you throw in the trash or for a toy each time you take your kid to Wal-Mart? I’m sure you can think of a couple of stupid things you could stop spending your cash on. Maintaining a budget will help protect you from foolish spending.

Your Entourage is Eating you Out of House and Home

The people you’re spending time with are dragging you down financially. It gets expensive to host a football party every Sunday or to be the chauffeur for other people’s errands. I’m not saying, don’t help others, it’s wonderful to help others but account for it in your budget and remember boundaries. never have money Now you know what you can do to change never having money. Take accountability for how you’ve been managing your money and make a change. When you do, it will feel good to have money.
